Under the new leadership of renowned architect Wiel Arets, IIT Architecture seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as Digital Media Producer in the IIT College of Architecture (CoA) publishing office. This position’s primary role is to record CoA activities and prepare CoA content for release through video, on digital platforms (including social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Instagram, and Twitter), and on the web via CoA’s newly launched website: Working under the supervision of the Director of Publishing and Senior Designer, the Digital Media Producer is responsible for coordination and administration of individual web and interactive projects which may include: scheduling, developing budgets, procurement in addition to planning, management and delivery of digital content. The Digital Media Producer is responsible for documenting and processing all CoA events and lectures by global leaders in architecture and design. The Digital Media Producer will maintain all CoA media equipment and develop a strategy and procedures to upgrade equipment as needed to produce high quality digital content for print, web and video. The Digital Media Producer is responsible for executing the plan to deliver web and interactive projects on the CoA website by working with Publishing Office colleagues, external and internal contributors, faculty, visiting architects, administrative staff, and helping them navigate key production milestones. Establishes clear submission, cataloging, and archiving systems for all CoA recordings, projects, photography, video in cooperation with the Publishing office and the Head of the Graham Resource Center and Architecture Librarian; and processing, formatting, and cataloging of similar material generated by the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) office, with which the CoA Publishing office works closely. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dedicated to producing high-quality work, can maintain both technical and creative projects, and is able to work under tight deadlines. S/he will enjoy handling multiple responsibilities, typically requiring quick turnaround; using computer software, formatting and combining text and visual graphic elements and building clear, accessible, future-proof backup, cataloging, and archiving systems for all content produced by the CoA. Strong knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, data asset management systems, web editing interfaces (eg. content management systems, email campaign systems, eg. MailChimp, etc.) are requisites for the position. Knowledge of publishing processes is also necessary. Knowledge of and experience with, databases, web design and video production (Adobe Premiere, Apple Final Cut Pro, etc.) is a requirement.

Special Schedule Requirements

May need to work occasional evenings and weekends. Also attend College of Architcture events


Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required and 2+ years of relevant experience in design/publishing/web/video production and editorial standards. Copywriting/editing skills are a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

Great oral and written communication skills; strong customer services skills; strong project management skills; strong technical knowledge of digital technology and digital asset formats: expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Keynote, web, content management systems, social media platforms (eg. LinkedIn Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, Instagram) and video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Apple Final Cut Pro, etc.); have a strong work ethic; good manual dexterity; the ability to work independently; ability to perform as part of a team as well as individually; strong attention to detail and a high standard of excellence; ability to spot even the smallest inconsistencies in the text, colors, or alignment; ability to work well under tight deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and respond to changing deadlines and priorities. Solid understanding of editorial, graphic, digital, web, and video production standards. Previous work with Architectural community is a plus. Portfolio exhibiting original photography, video and online/web professional work is required for consideration
